Tayeba Begum Lipi's (b. 1969, Gaibandha, Bangladesh) work engages with questions of gender, femininity or womanhood and, more recently, with ideas of presence, absence and mortality.
Lipi plays an important role in the contemporary visual art scene in Bangladesh, as a co-founder of the Britto Arts Trust,. She was a Commissioner of the first Bangladeshi Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (Italy, 2011), titled “Parables”, where her work was shown alongside five other Bangladeshi artists. Her solo exhibitions, "Feminine" (Dhaka, 2007) and "No One Home" (Dhaka, 2015) were organized by Bengal Foundation.
